CHICAGO IS PLAYING
(Christmas is Coming)

Kickoff is coming, the Bears they will play,
Bring to me some peanuts, on the couch I must stay,
Bring to me some peanuts, on the couch I stay.

Chicago is playing, I hope that we will win,
If we are not winning, then please let us tie.
If we are not tying, then we all may cry!

GOD REST YE, WEARY SHOELESS JOE
(God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen)

The year was nineteen nineteen, and the man was Shoeless Joe.
Comiskey signed him to his team, to Chicago he did go.
He had a very famous bat, Black Betsy was its name,
He'd smash the ball with all his might 'cause hitting was his game,
Joseph Jackson was this player's name.

It was that year's World Series that the White Sox went to play,
But then some gamblers got involved, the fix was on, they say.
Some teammates took a bribe for Joe, but he just played to win.
He knew about the bribery, but he would not turn them in,
Joseph Jackson, he just played to win.

Eight players were indicted and a trial date was set.
To fix a World Series was as low as you could get.
The evidence was missing so they let the players go.
The White Sox fans had lost so much, it was a mighty blow,
They lost their greatest player, Shoeless Joe.

A commissioner of baseball was brought in to cleanse the game.
He said to Joe Jackson, "Sir, now you can not remain.
I ban you from the baseball field for ever and a day;
Even though you played to win, we cannot let you stay.
Baseball you can never, ever play."

God rest ye weary Shoeless Joe, once the greatest of the game.
You should be remembered in the baseball Hall of Fame.
With years gone by, the "Black Sox" team is just a memory.
Shoeless Joe, you tried your best to win a victory,
The Hall of Fame is where you ought to be.

CHICAGO FANS MUST NOT FORGET
(Auld Lang Syne)

Chicago fans must not forget
Our greatest ever team.
Phil Jackson was the head coach
And Jordan led the dream.

Oh Jordan jams one in the hoop,
He plays with all his might.
His airness seems to score at will,
it is really quite a sight.

And Scottie Pippen came to play
He's tenacious defensively.
And Michael said to Scottie,
"You are my MVP."

You are my MVP, my friend,
Because the way you play.
You are an all star for the Bulls
and for the N.B.A.

So stand and cheer now for the Bulls
and for number twenty three.
It's Michael who you've come to watch
he's the greatest that you'll see.

The greatest that you'll see, my friends
is our Chicago team.
The Bulls and Michael Jordan,
they have given us the dream.

OUR PAPA BEAR
(It Came Upon a Midnight Clear)

It came upon a football field, in the glorious times of old,
George Halas helped found the N.F.L., his story must be told.
In nineteen twenty, the league began, it started with only nine teams.
And Halas was the player-coach, Decatur Staleys.
In twenty-one they made their move, to Wrigley Field they went.
They chose the Bears to be the name, to match the Cubs 'twas meant.
A championship they won that year, with Halas six more to be,
The future bright when he signed Red Grange, the man they wanted to see.

George Halas really changed the game with the formation known as the T,
Sid Luckman was his quarterback, they had a winning team.
In nineteen forty the title game, now who would the champions be?
The Redskins gained no points at all, the Bears had seventy-three!
There was another title team, with Ditka and Billy Wade,
They beat the Giants fourteen to ten, and joined the winner's parade.
George Halas led Chicago's team, for sixty-three years with great care.
A player, coach, and owner, too, he was our Papa Bear!

GO CHICAGO
(Sing Noel)

Go Chicago, go Chicago, go Chicago.
Cubs and White Sox, Cubs and Whitesox, Cubs and Whitesox.
Bulls and Bears, Bulls and Bears, Bulls and da Bears.
Blackhawks Rule, Blackhawks Rule, Blackhawks Rule.
Go Chicago, go Chicago, go Chicago.

JOLLY JIM MCMAHON
(Jolly Old St. Nicholas)

Jolly Jim McMahon, lean your head this way,
The words upon your headband, just what do they say?
"Rozelle" is what it looks like, a fine you had to pay,
I heard it was five thousand bucks, 'least that's what they say!

Stylish Jim McMahon, you tried to cut your hair.
Willie Gault, he helped you, you got a mohawk there.
And so you shaved your head, but it wasn't meant to be,
'Til later Michael Jordan set the trend for you and me.

Wild Jim McMahon, you were our quarterback,
The defense on the other team, it's you they tried to sack.
But you liked to run the ball and end it with a hit,
You drove Mike Ditka crazy, he nearly had a fit!

Zany Jim McMahon, in practice with the team,
You mooned a helicopter, down in New Orleans!
And you won that Super Bowl, the Patriots you beat,
You always had a lot of fun, your passes were complete.

Sly old Jim McMahon on Monday night TV,
You gave the ball to the Fridge, it was a sight to see.
He plunged into the end zone, a touchdown he did make,
The fans went wild with cheering, the stadium did shake.

OVER THE RIVER COMES SANTA CLAUS
(Over the River and Through the Woods)

Over the river comes Santa Claus, a zamboni for a sled.
It's all filled up with sticks and pucks, tied up with ribbons red.
A jersey worn by Bobby Hull, now wouldn't that be fine,
So don't forget, dear Santa, make sure it's number nine!

Over the river the cold wind blows, the ice is getting thick,
It's time to put the ice skates on, and grab a hockey stick.
Oh, the Blackhawks are the team for me, in sixty-one we beat
The Red Wings for the Stanley Cup, it really was a treat!

HARRY WAS HIS NAME
(Good King Wenceslas)

There was an eager baseball fan, Harry was his name.
He liked to tell it how it was, that's how he got his fame.
He grew up in St. Louis, he was on the radio.
Then he got the White Sox job, in Chicago.

He worked the South side stadium, for eleven years.
"Holy Cow!" he often said, Budweiser was his beer.
Richie Allen on the field, was the M.V.P.
Comiskey Park was where he worked, Harry Caray.

Take me out to the old ballgame, was his favorite tune.
And when the ballpark organ played, Harry he would croon.
The fans would sing along with him in the seventh inning stretch,
With enthusiasm that every one would catch.

Then one day the Cubs did call, Jack Brickhouse had retired.
We need a new announcer, it's Harry we should hire.
We know him well from all those years, when he called the show.
"Cubs win!" I heard him say, to all in Chicago.

DASHING THROUGH THE LINE
(Jingle Bells)

Dashing through the line, a blocker leads out front
A broken field tackle, defense had to stunt.
When the whistle blows, play comes to an end.
But when the center snaps the ball, we'll run the play again.

(Chorus:)
Touchdown time, touchdown time, six points, hear the roar.
Oh what fun, it is to run, in the end zone for a score.
Touchdown time, touchdown time, passes fill the air,
They play at Soldier Field, Chicago loves the Bears.

Here the kickoff comes, we'll catch it at the three,
We'll run the ball right up the field, such a sight to see.
Blockers form a wedge, return man's broken free,
The Bears, they scored a touchdown now, and there's no penalty!

Chorus

Payton has the ball, our greatest running back,
He gained over twelve thousand yards and led the Bears attack.
He won the rushing title, five years in a row,
And now he's in the end zone, a touchdown don't you know!

Chorus

OH COME ALL YOU FANS
(Oh Come All Ye Faithful)

Oh come all you Bears fans,
Come and see the touchdowns,
To the place the mighty Bears
Call Soldier Field.
The home of Dick Butkis, Payton,
And Gayle Sayers.
Oh come and see the touchdowns,
Oh come and see the touchdowns,
Oh come and see the touchdowns,
The team called DA BEARS.

Oh come see the Blackhawks,
Skating in their glory,
Slap shots into the net,
Lord Stanley's cup we chase
Once the home of Bobby Hull
And our man Mikita,
Oh come cheer for the Blackhawks,
Oh come cheer for the Blackhawks,
Oh come cheer for the Blackhawks,
Chicago hockey fans.

Now come all you Bulls fans,
To the Windy City,
Now it's time to stand and cheer
The team we hold so dear.
One with Scottie Pippen,
Michael J. and Rodman,.
Oh come and see the slam dunks,
Oh come and see the fast breaks
The greatest team in round ball,
The team called the Bulls!

WE ALL WANT SOME SEASON TICKETS
(BUT ONLY DAY GAMES!)
(We Wish You a Merry Christmas)

We wish you a Cubs Christmas, we wish you a Cubs Christmas,
We wish you a Cubs Christmas, and the Series next year.
My favorite Cubs are from long ago, Ernie Banks, Billy Williams
And of course, Ron Santo.

We all want some season tickets, we all want some season tickets,
We all want some season tickets, but only day games!
Oh, WGN puts the games on TV, Kerry Wood is our pitcher,
Who we like to see.

The Cubs will win the series, of this I have a theory,
Our future is looking cheery, can we win it this year?
Glad tidings we bring to the Cub bleacher bums.
"Cause Sosa's at bat now, and he's hitting home runs!
